Senior Geospatial (GIS) Specialist/GIS Administrator - 6114

RS&H has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Geospatial (GIS) Specialist / GIS Administrator within our Consulting Services discipline in Fort Lauderdale to work closely as embedded staff for one of our largest clients.  You will play a pivotal role in providing expertise in the geospatial field.  If you are a passionate and driven professional with innovative ideas, we want you to be a part of our dynamic team.

 

 

You will serve in a key role as part of a General Engineering Consultant contract with the Florida Department of Transportation, while cultivating relationships with our clients in South Florida and with other RS&H offices and industry partners. We are looking for a team member that can work in-house full-time at FDOT’s Fort Lauderdale office on assignments that the client will assign. You will be part of a team of other Geospatial Consultants across the company and will work closely with our General Engineering Consultant Contract Project Managers to achieve the goals of our client.

Qualifications:

Education / Experience: Bachelor's or master’s degree in Geospatial Science, Geographic Information Systems, or related geospatial discipline, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 10+ years of progressive GIS / Geospatial experience.

License/Certification: Geographic Information Science Certification Institute (GISCI) Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) Certification is highly desired. Esri Technical Certifications are highly desired in the following: Enterprise Geodata Management Professional, Enterprise System Design Professional, Enterprise Administration Professional, ArcGIS Online Administration Associate.

 

Job Responsibilities / Requirements:

 

  • Experience using current GIS technology and leveraging the full ArcGIS enterprise suite of tools to demonstrate Esri’s patterns of use.
  • Ability to work with existing ArcGIS databases, datasets, and applications to develop an understanding of their use and integration capabilities.
  • Experience Esri desktop tools like ArcCatalog, ArcMap, and ArcPro
  • Experience with geodatabases, multi-user environments, and version management with ArcGIS and underlying DBMS technology (Microsoft SQL Server) to include knowledge of Structured query language (SQL) programming language.
  • Ability to develop solutions to ArcGIS needs using a combination of tools including app builders (ArcGIS Instant Apps, ArcGIS Dashboards, ArcGIS StoryMaps, and ArcGIS Experience Builder).
  • Work with ArcGIS users, developers, etc. to understand data landscape and needs.
  • Write clear technical documentation to support data development work.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical staff to understand client GIS needs.
  • Assist with the administration and maintenance of on-premises ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online.
  • Ability to troubleshoot client issues related to Esri application deployment and system architecture
  • Experience programming and scripting with Python
  • Understanding of ArcGIS from an IT context (e.g., hardware, software, storage, security, networking, servers, databases, web services, virtualization, cloud computing)
  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and environments (Microsoft Azure or AWS)
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise web applications or other web application development.
  • Assist maintaining the GIS applications, servers, layers, and feature classes for client offices.
  • Serve as the point of contact for various GIS projects/assignments.
  • Attend requirement gathering and GIS coordination meetings.
  • Define project tasks and execute on those tasks.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.
