We are currently seeking a National Water Resources Leader to join the Infrastructure Business Unit.

The candidate will provide strategic direction and leadership as RS&H’s National Water Resources Leader. This position will report to the Senior Leadership Team of the Infrastructure Business Unit and will have the opportunity to drive RS&H’s water resource services work across the company.  The National Water Resources Leader should be a recognized leader in the water resources field, specifically stormwater management as our primary market with future vision on water/wastewater.  The role will elevate the firm’s recognition in the water resource engineering community while cultivating passion and innovation within our water resource practice.  The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to perform diverse and complex work tasks requiring extensive engineering, communication, business development, and team leadership expertise. Not only will this position oversee the direction of the practice, the candidate will engage directly in our most visible and complex projects as Project Officer and will be the technical expert for the most complex work we do.  Finally, the role will serve as the “technical expert” for the company for water resources’ management within the Infrastructure Business Unit.

 

This role will also assist client business development and recruit top water resources talent. A vital component of this role is to collaborate and shape our national water resources’ strategy. While the majority of our projects are related to Storm Water Management, we envision growing the Water Resource are to include water and wastewater projects.  This role will require involvement with diverse portions of the RS&H organization, including Infrastructure (Aviation, Transportation, and Aerospace) and Construction Management Business Units, to implement business strategies to differentiate the firm and our Water Resources Practice.  Location is not limited.

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and ability to apply for reciprocity in multiple states. 
  • Minimum 20 years of  experience within the field of water resources planning and engineering, 10 years of which are in a leadership position.  History should include understanding of the following software:
  • ArcGIS (extensions including 3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst, ArcHydro a plus)
  • SWMM (EPAXPXP, PC)
  • HEC Software (RAS, HMS, etc.)
  • ICPR
  • Water Quality models (e.g. SWMM, QUAL2K, WASP, etc.)
  • Experience leading and working on complex stormwater management projects. 
  • Responsible for developing a core team of water resources experts to complete technically significant stormwater management projects integrated with large infrastructure development programs that help to differentiate the firm.
  • Responsible for the technical development of our water resources’ team, including identifying and training the team in methods that continually raise the reputation of the firm.
  • Conduct training of core team members to help identify engineers with the aptitude for water resources’ planning and design and to add them to the water resources’ team.
  • Provide and demonstrate leadership in fostering creative and innovative modeling and design development for water-related projects within the firm. 
  • Provide leadership, assistance, and timely solutions for stormwater management challenges and design problems. 
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Development of a continuously improving quality culture.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master of Science in civil engineering degree or Master of Business Administration preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation with professional affiliations (national name recognition is preferred).
  • Experience serving on technical panels, presenting, and publishing.

  • Form a cohesive partnership with Infrastructure and other Business Units to elevate RS&H as a leading complex Water Resources practice. 
  • Identify and execute business plan priorities to meet or exceed sales and revenue goals.  
  • Contribute to an interactive working environment that highlights RS&H’s strength and creates a strong work-life balance. 
  • Attend and present at conferences to improve the visibility of RS&H’s services and expertise.
