AUSTIN AVIATION SR. DESIGN ENGINEER - 6394

RS&H is currently seeking a highly motivated, technically experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our Aviation Team in Austin, TX!

The senior design engineer role is technical in nature, with a prominent focus on design and production, and will lead significant design elements, develop and deliver projects of varying sizes and complexity, direct production staff, and ensure our clients’ project satisfaction. Projects range from airside to landside, from small to large, and everything in between. Opportunities include the design of runways, taxiways, and aprons, bituminous and concrete pavement, stormwater and utility infrastructure; coordination with airports, airlines, FAA, and other tenants; construction administration / management; and coordination and interaction with other RS&H and team member disciplines, including Planning, Buildings, and Environmental.

Requirements:

· Technical expert who is comfortable working in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment.

· Demonstrate excellent technical knowledge of aviation design fundamentals.

· Direct and check the work of other staff on the aviation team.

· Knowledgeable on all aspects of aviation plans and technical specifications production.

· Resourceful and innovative engineer who enjoys working in a collaborative environment.

· Act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to aviation design.

· Excellent communication, analysis, and documentation skills.

As the Senior Design Engineer, you will:

· Function as Design Task Leader on small, moderate, and large coped multi-disciplined projects and ensure adherence to company and project contractual requirements.

· Design a complete project, system, component, or process. Prepare project plans, specifications, and reports.

· Provide senior-level technical guidance to the Austin Aviation Team, including project development direction to meet target financial performance and revenue metrics.

· Analyze and interpret data. Perform analyses of design, planning, and impact studies, as well as cost analyses, design requirements, site selection, and design layouts.

· Apply advanced knowledge and expertise to resolve complex issues and/or unique challenges.

· Perform quality control reviews and ensure achievement of key milestones. Perform as-needed field reviews and observations of ongoing construction projects to maintain and increase understanding of construction practices and design applications.

· Maintain professional registration and licensure by ensuring conformance with professional, ethical, educational, and discipline practice requirements.

· Remain knowledgeable of applicable federal, state, and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances that are pertinent to respective discipline.

· Recommend operational strategies and plans with direct impact on results.

Qualifications:

· ABET accredited Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.

· Minimum 12 years of experience in Civil design, at least five (5) within airport-related facilities.

· Texas PE licensure or ability to obtain within 6 months of starting.

· Effective team-focused associate that will foster teamwork, help set priorities, and provide direction to production associates.

· Strong record of leading design teams

· Requires communication with senior leadership on matters of strategic importance.

· Good organization skills.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to travel across the region to existing/potential Airport Clients

· Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.

· Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required for use in completing an assignment.
