Senior Transportation Project Manager /Highway Group Leader - 4106

We are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager /Highway Group Leader for the Raleigh office. 


The Senior Project Manager /Highway Group Leader candidate will be responsible for managing the roadway/highway analysis and design, plans production, specifications, reports, and estimates efforts on large scale conventional and design-build projects for NCDOT and municipal clients.


Additional responsibilities include client communication; managing subconsultants; supervising and mentoring roadway/highway staff; coordinating with discipline key task leaders and staff to ensure ongoing communications; performing quality control on deliverables; monitoring and meeting project deliverable schedules and budgets for assigned projects; and leading/supporting marketing and business development initiatives.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university;
  • 12+ years’ experience performing and managing roadway design
  • NC professional engineering (PE) registration;
  • Experience managing and mentoring engineering staff;
  • Experience managing conventional and design-build projects relating to intersections, arterials, interstates, and interchanges for NCDOT and NC municipal clients;
  • Working knowledge of MicroStation, Geopak, and/or Corridor Modeling;
  • Experience leading large multi-discipline teams working on complex projects;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and overall quality control and management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience managing highway design, alternative delivery, and/or GEC projects in North Carolina
  • Working knowledge of OpenRoads Designer
  • Proven ability and desire in the areas of marketing, business development, quality management and associate development
  • Experience building and managing a multi-disciplined design team
